Ready for the next chapter! Fans have been craving a continuation of the Sex and the City franchise for years — and Sarah Jessica Parker finally gave them a little taste.

The 56-year-old actress, who played Carrie Bradshaw on the popular drama, teased the first look at the upcoming HBO Max revival, And Just Like That, in January. “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?” Parker wrote via Instagram at the time alongside a snippet of footage. The clip featured some New York City sights and the words, “And just like that … the story continues,” being typed across a computer screen.

Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon — who portrayed Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes, respectively — shared the same trailer on their own Instagram accounts at the time.

HBO Max later confirmed that original executive producer Michael Patrick King will be back for the new show. The revival will follow the women, now in their 50s, as they continue to navigate the complicated friendships and relationships from their 30s. Production on the 10-episode season is set to begin in the late spring in New York City.

Viewers who grew up with the heartwarming story lines of the ’90s series were thrilled to see that many of the original stars were set to participate in the project. However, the lack of Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) gave some fans pause. When one fan claimed that the Golden Globe nominee, 64, was on the outs with Parker, the Failure to Launch star clapped back.

“No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would,” the shoe designer replied via Instagram in January. “Samantha isn’t part of this story, but she will always be a part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X.”

The Divorce alum later gave more insight into the decision to only feature three of the four main characters in the new series, admitting that Samantha wouldn’t be replaced.

“It’s not as black and white as that,” she told TMZ in January. “We’re not looking to bring in a fourth character. We have New York City as a fourth character. There will be lots of interesting, new characters that we’re excited about.”

Casey Bloys, chief content officer at HBO Max, opened up about how the revival was planning to approach Samantha’s absence.

“They’re not trying to redo Sex and the City,” the exec told TVLine in February. “They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s. It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s. … Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So, I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life.”

Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw)
The Emmy winner was the first cast member to post about the upcoming revival in January, sharing a teaser with her Instagram followers. While fans were disappointed to learn that only three of the core four charters would be returning, Parker told TMZ that they had exciting things in store. "We're not looking to bring in a fourth character," she said at the time. "We have New York City as a fourth character. There will be lots of interesting, new characters that we're excited about." Kristin Davis (Charlotte York)
The Colorado native shared a glimpse at a bustling New York City street in her first social media post about the HBO Max series. "Anything is possible.... Meet you there!" she wrote in January. One month later, she gushed over the "super talented writers and producers" helping to make And Just Like That come to life. "So excited to start this new chapter with you all 💗💗," she hinted via Instagram.  New Line Cinema/Hbo/Village Roadshow/Kobal/Shutterstock
Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones)
Since 2019, the Filthy Rich actress has been vocal about not wanting to return to the franchise — and fueled rumors of a feud between her and Parker, who she's claimed "could have been nicer" while they worked together. Though Cattrall has yet to publicly comment on the upcoming SATC revival, fans noticed that she "liked" a telling tweet about the series in January.  "I absolutely love Sex and the City and whilst I am saddened that Samantha will not return, I applaud doing what is best for you and think this is [a] great example of putting yourself first. Well done @KimCattrall," the post read. New Line Cinema/Hbo/Village Roadshow/Kobal/Shutterstock
David Eigenberg (Steve Brady)
"I really love that show," the Chicago Fire star told Us exclusively in March. "I think it's really interesting that they've brought it back. ... If it can work out, we may be going down that road."  Eigenberg admitted that Nixon was "a dream to work with" in SATC's heyday. However, the revival would have some "heartbreaking" absences, including the late Anne Meara, who played his character's mom. "It's a sad thing to go back because that character, you know, [the] lineage is gone, and Anne as a human being wouldn't be there," he told Us. He later revealed in an interview with E! News that the HBO Max team had called him and that he was "very excited" to continue the next chapter.  Hbo/Darren Star Productions/Kobal/Shutterstock
Chris Noth (Mr. Big)
Will he or won't he? Rumors surfaced in February that Noth wasn't going to be part of And Just Like That — and the actor played coy about whether they were true. "Everything changes — including announcements in the rags," the Law & Order alum wrote in response to a fan on Instagram, teasing, "Well, if Page Six says it ... it must be true 😉."  In May 2021, HBO Max announced he will officially return. Justin Theroux (Vaughn Wysel)
"Yeah, of course. I would love to," the Leftovers alum said during a March interview with E! News, joking that he had "no email from Sarah Jessica" about reprising his small role. "If they wanted to have me, I'd do Sex and the City again." Theroux made a brief appearance during the show's debut season in 1998, playing an acquaintance of Carrie's friend Stanford (Willie Garson). In season 2, he returned as Vaughn Wysel, who had a brief fling with Carrie.   YouTube
Jennifer Hudson (Louise)
The American Idol alum charmed audiences as Carrie's assistant, Louise, who moves back to St. Louis at the end of the 2008 Sex and the City film. When asked whether she'd heard from the cast about bringing her character back to the new series, Hudson told Entertainment Tonight in January that she hadn't heard anything official — but was totally interested. "That would be cool. I am down, I am down!" she added.  Craig Blankenhorn/New Line Cinema/Kobal/Shutterstock
John Corbett
Corbett, who portrayed Aiden Shaw in the show and the first film, confirmed to Page Six that he will be in "quite a few" episodes of the revival. His former onscreen love interest couldn't help but weigh in, responding to the excitement via Instagram. Parker wrote at the time, "I'm not saying one way or another whether our beloved Mr. Corbett's interview deals in facts or fiction. But the response is amazing to read... x."
