It’s clear Hannah Ann Sluss and Peter Weber are over, but when did the pair know their romance was dunzo?
Fans watched the pilot admit to Hannah Ann that he still had feelings for Madison Prewett during the March 2020 finale.
“I never intended to give my heart to two people. I never intended that,” he told her. “And the pain that come with that. I’ve just been battling it. And I haven’t hid anything from you. I’ve told you everything. Even when I don’t deserve it, you never left me. You’ve always stood by me. You’ve always given me that love.”
After Hannah Ann asked if Peter could give her the same love back, he confessed that he couldn’t.
“All I’ve ever asked for is someone to give me my whole heart like I’m giving to them,” she fired back. “You took away from me my first engagement. You took that away from me because I trusted you, and that’s what you continued to ask me to do.”
During their confrontation on After the Final Rose, the model revealed that Peter wanted to talk to former Bachelorette Hannah Brown before they split.
“I should’ve really picked up on the first red flag you gave me — that you wanted to reach out to Hannah Brown to find closure with her,” she quipped. “So really, looking back on it, our engagement involved three women: Me, you still being in love with Madison, and you needing closure with Hannah Brown. Word of advice, if you want to be with a woman, you need to become a real man!”

According to Hannah Ann, the pair were on good terms for the month of December. (Fans also saw the Weber family celebrate the engagement via FaceTime.) “[The struggle] did not start until January,” Hannah Ann told Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast on Tuesday. ABC
Peter’s season of The Bachelor premiered on January 6 — and marked the beginning of the end of Peter and Hannah Ann. “Beginning of January was when he approached me that he needed to speak with Hannah Brown. That’s the first red flag,” Hannah Ann told Rachel and Becca. “He told me he needed to talk to Hannah Brown because he needed closure. He was trying to convince me that I should feel comfortable with that. We’re engaged. … I was not on that group date with him and Hannah Brown. Less than a month later, Hannah Ann revealed that she and Peter chatted the morning before they filmed their breakup. “We talked that morning [and said] that we weren’t going to break up — we were going to work through it,” she explained. Hours later, they pulled the plug on their relationship. “All I’ve ever asked for is someone to give me their whole heart like I’m giving to them,” Hannah Ann told Peter on the finale episode. “You took away from me my first engagement. You took that away from me because I trusted you, and that’s what you continued to ask me to do.” Hannah Ann also told Rachel and Becca that Peter reached out to her mom and dad post-split. “He reached out to my parents and said that he was struggling processing his emotions,” she explained. “That’s what he left it at. [He] was very vague. He speaks half truths. While I’m watching this season I’m like, ‘Oh ok, that makes a lot more sense. Why we broke up makes a whole lot more sense because he couldn’t really own up to the fact of how he was truly feeling.’” ABC
Chris Harrison traveled to Auburn, Alabama, to see Madison after Hannah Ann and Peter’s split. While the host didn’t reveal when his trip went down, Madison was spotted with a film crew in her hometown in February. "When I heard that she was just as much in love with him as he was with her, I thought let's try this,” Harrison explained about his trip on Good Morning America. Madison subsequently traveled to Los Angeles to see Peter. “I fell for you and that never changed,” she told him during their reunion. “I’ve been struggling with it ever since I got home until now. What I felt for you in Australia has not gone away at all. I know that I still have so much love in my heart for you.” Peter replied, “I haven’t just fallen out of love with you. … Obviously we both hurt each other like crazy, but obviously you’re here right now for a reason.” ABC
More than one year after the split drama, fans learned through the season 15 Bachelorette’s memoir that Hannah and Peter hooked up in February 2020. In God Bless This Mess, the Alabama native claimed the pilot told her things weren’t going well with Hannah Ann over the phone in January. Hannah Ann confronted Peter about their split. “In the middle of a proposal, you downplayed that, so that I had no idea what I was saying yes to,” she said, referring to Peter not telling Hannah Ann that Madison left Australia. “That’s called being blindsided.” She concluded: “Word of advice, if you want to be with a woman, you need to become a real man.” Peter and Madison, meanwhile, might give their romance a shot — much to the dismay of his mother. “I don’t know what this actually means right now,” Peter admitted on After the Final Rose. “I know how we both feel about each other and I think taking it one day, one step, at a time is the way to go about this.” John Fleenor/ABC
