There’s something about Mexico that makes someone fall in love. While many get engaged on Bachelor in Paradise , only a handful have stayed together, gotten married and even had kids!
Marcus Grodd and Lacy Faddoul were the first “successful” Bachelor in Paradise couple after he popped the question during the 2014 finale of season 1. While the pair were brought back to give the season 2 cast hope in 2015 — and exchanged vows in a ceremony officiated by then-host Chris Harrison — viewers later learned they were never legally married.
“It feels like she’s a runaway bride,” Marcus told Life & Style in June 2016 after news of their split broke. ”When we came back [from Mexico], we were supposed to start the paperwork, but she stalled.”
Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert subsequently became the first real deal duo, falling in love on season 2 of the spinoff. After they wed in January 2016, their wedding aired on ABC on Valentine’s Day. The pair went on to welcome three kids: Emmy (born in August 2017), Brooks (July 2019) and Reed (November 2020).
“[Bachelor in Paradise has] changed so much! ” Jade told Us Weekly before BiP returned for season 7 in 2021. “We were discouraged to meet each other or talk to each other before we went on the show because they wanted the onscreen time to be the first time anybody met, and they could see that. But nowadays, everyone hangs out with each other. It’s so different. But I loved Paradise because of the quality time you got with people. I spent more time with Tanner in two days than I did with Chris Soules in seven weeks, you know?”
Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise produced another wedding, with Carly Waddell and Evan Bass tying the knot in 2017. The duo welcomed daughter Bella and son Charlie before announcing their split in December 2020.
It would be two more years before a BiP duo made it down the aisle, with off-again, on-again pair Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon tying the knot in August 2019. Season 4 couple Raven Gates and Adam Gottschalk followed in April 2021.
“There was no pressure for us to stay together. I think a lot of people, honestly, in Bachelor Nation kind of forgot about us in a way,” the Grey Suede owner said on Us ’ “Here for the Right Reasons” podcast in June 2021. “We weren’t highlighted as, like, the ‘it couple,’ which was really good for us, because there was no pressure. It wasn’t everyone checking in to see if we were still engaged or wedding planning or anything like that.”

Pieper James and Brendan Morais
Us reported in June 2021 that Brendan and Pieper were dating before filming for season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise began, which became a story line on the show. He arrived on the beach first and struck up a romance with Natasha Parker, but once Pieper came in, the two only had eyes for each other. Some of their costars believed they orchestrated their relationship prior to the show, but they denied the allegations. The couple left the beach together, but backlash from his treatment of Natasha and his and Pieper’s comments about gaining Instagram followers from starring on the spinoff led to tension between them off screen. The model confirmed in October 2021 that she and Brendan are still together despite the drama.
“The reason we didn’t choose to go public like everybody else in the show [after the finale aired] was just because, obviously, our experience was a little bit different,” Pieper explained on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast at the time. “We tainted our own experience in that way, so we are kind of working on ourselves and each other and we’re focusing on being a couple before taking that public because this isn’t an easy thing to go through.”

Chris Conran and Alana Milne
The pair caused controversy during season 7 when their costars accused them of planning their relationship ahead of filming. Although they denied the claims, they ultimately left the beach separately amid urging from their castmates. They revealed in October 2021 that they decided to give their relationship a real shot shortly after the onscreen drama.

Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt
The couple got engaged at the end of Bachelor in Paradise season 7 — despite Joe's ex Kendall Long making a surprise visit.
“My ex did just show up on the beach. … If anything, it just made me more confident in how much that I do love you,” Joe told Serena in the BiP finale, which aired in October 2021. “We have definitely had our speed bumps along the way, but the way you’ve handled it shows me what a kind of loving person you are.”

Kenny Braasch and Mari Pepin
This Bachelor in Paradise season 7 couple took a while to get serious after Mari said she wanted to keep her options open, but she ended up with a Neil Lane engagement ring in the October 2021 finale.
“At the end of the day, we did go through a lot of real-life relationship stuff, and we were tested like no other couple in Paradise, I think. … I’m shaking," Kenny said. "Mari, I am f—king so in love with you. And I literally, like, I can’t see my life without you. You’re such an amazing woman that you’ve changed my whole outlook on life. … Mari Pepin, will you marry me?”

Riley Christian and Maurissa Gunn
Their first date on the seventh season of Bachelor in Paradise ended with a trip to the boom-boom room, and the season ended with their engagement.
“I really never believed in love at first sight, and you showed me that it truly is possible," Maurissa told Riley in the finale. "I knew I loved you the first night that I met you. You were adventurous, passionate. I knew that I was going to do whatever I needed to to make you mine, and today I know that I wanna make you mine forever.”
Riley popped the question shortly after.

Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes
While Caelynn and Dean split during season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise, he returned to the beach to win her back before the finale.
Two years later, Caelynn admitted to Us that even she’s surprised the twosome are still going strong. “We definitely defied the odds,” she said in June 2021. “I think that’s just our unique relationship and we really try not to listen to it. When you go on the show, so many people are going to have so many opinions about your relationship — good and bad. I think we just never really listened to those negative people and we just lived our lives.”
Earlier in 2021, the duo bought a home together 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas.

Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch
At the end of season 5, Kevin Wendt ended his relationship with Astrid Loch , leaving her shocked and heartbroken. However, he reached out immediately when he arrived home in Canada and told her he regretted it. Since then, the two have continued to work on their relationship. And in December 2018, the Germany native moved from Florida to Toronto to live with the former Bachelor Winter Games star.
A little more than a year after they first met in Mexico, Kevin popped the question on August 28, 2019.
“I could have sworn the world stood still in this moment. A moment I’ll never forget. Just you + me,” Astrid captioned a photo from the proposal via Instagram. “@kevin.c.wendt you’ve taught me to love, learn and grow and I can’t believe you’ve chosen me to spend this crazy life with. Wonder if I’ll ever stop smiling? Probably not. In this together, forever. ♥️”
